This page compares Lifestyle Fitness to other Missoula gyms such as The Peak, YMCA, Golds Gym, and the Womens Club (The Big Five).
In Missoula, looking for a home for your health journey can be complicated at times. This is designed to help you understand the main differences in the various clubs in Missoula and how Lifestyle Fitness fits into Missoula’s Health Club scene.
GROUP FITNESS CLASSES
All of the fitness facilities (The Big Five) have group fitness
classes. At Lifestyle Fitness, we set out to build
the best Group Fitness program in the Northwest. Instead of letting any instructor teach, all
of our instructors are Exclusive to Lifestyle Fitness and have been formally
trained by Les Mills (www.LesMills.com)* or by SPINNING®. We are the ONLY fitness facility in Missoula that
offers
- SPINNING® (most people think cycling is SPINNING®, not true, SPINNING® requires instructors to be highly trained and maintains high standards of their facilities).
- BodyPump® - a 60 Minute total body workout with a bar (our most popular class) (An offical Les Mills program).
- BodyFlow® - an infusion of Pilates, Yoga and some Thai Chi that leaves you feeling relaxed and still burns over 400 calories per class. (An offical Les Mills program).
- BodyCombat® – A mixed martial arts inspired class that strengthens from shoulders to core to legs and gives a great cardio workout.
- Sh'Bam® - Easy to follow, fun and energetic dance to "sing along" hits!
Cardio and Weights
The Big Five are quite similar in cardiovascular and weight equipment. Lifestyle Fitness chose to workout with
Hammer Strength and LifeFitness since they are made in the USA and have the
best ergonomic equipment in the industry. You will find over 65 ellipticals, step climbers, treadmills, recumbent
bikes, and rowing machines.
The Culture
More important than the steel and iron is the culture of a fitness
facility. How does it make you feel when
you are there? Is it a place you desire
to go to? Are you greeted well when you
come in? This is truly more important
than price when you are looking at your long term health program.
Kids Club
I sometimes have to laugh about parents. They will search diligently to find the absolute best school for their
kids, but not evaluate the quality of the child care at the fitness facility
they regularly attend. We created
Lifestyle Kids Club in 2009 as active, healthy play center for kids. www.LifestyleKidsClub.com
Not only can you use it for $3.00 per hour while you workout, (equivalent in cost
to all of the Big Five), but you can use it if you want to run an errand or
have a meeting. Use it any time for any
reason. Instead of feeding your kids
junk, we have healthy snacks and meals and also will keep them active and
inspired.
Price
In general you always pay for what you get, however we believe you should
have options and not pay for everything. For example, The Peak has a pool, but
if you only use it occasionally, you are paying more for something you are not using.
Instead you could utilize Lifestyle Fitness for between $29 and $42 with a low
$39-49 startup program and use one of the other pools in Missoula when you
swim to save a lot of money over the course of a year.
Golds Gym, The Womens Club, YMCA, and Lifestyle Fitness are all very close in
price; between 25-45 per month depending on what you want. The Peak is even more at the time of this writing. You need to look at the factors above to
decide which club fits you the best.
I know this dialogue promotes Lifestyle Fitness, but we are a team passionate about creating a culture that takes people who have been intimated by fitness in the past and brings them into an environment where they feel welcomed and feel good about themselves. You will never know unless you come give us a try...sign up online at missoulalifestyle.com/memberships.html or stop by today across from Costco next to TJ Maxx.
We're passionate about helping you reach your fitness goals.
